By holding a series of regional and national competitions in eight different cycling disciplimes in a safe and controlled environment. There has been a change of committee members of BSCA with Sue, Tim and Anthony Knight all retiring with immediate effect.
All correspondence for events should be sent to Mandy Parker at mandyparker2@ntlworld.com apart from membership which is continuing to be dealt with by David Shrubbs until new committee members are appointed.

British Schools Cycling Association Yorkshire Time Trial Championship Under 15 and Over 15 Categories.
Next British Schools Cycling Association event is the Regional Yorkshire Time Trial Championship for the Under 15's and Over 15's, riders born between 1st September 1995 and 31/05/2001 are eligible to ride. All competitors need to fill in an entry form which is attached. Postal entries close on 4th May with limited entries on the day due to maximum numbers on the course.

Here is the entry form for this event to be held at Richard Dunn Sports Centre.
This is a great event for young riders to race on indoor rollers. With the bike supported on a box for Under 7,9 and 11 year olds ( all primary school pupils) anyone one under 11 on the 1st September 2014 can have a go without any prior training on rollers. Older children are not supported for the Under 13/15 and Over 15's categories so it is advisable that they practice riding on free rollers before they race.
Please note there are gear restrictions applying. A gear restriction means that children in a certain age group have a maximum gear they can use on their bike to make it fair. This is measured by a single full crank revolution. Ask your local coaches for advice on how to restrict gears (Simply altering the movement of the gears by use of a screwdriver) Please ensure you have checked and restricted the gears if required before attending the competition.

British Schools Cycling Association operates age categories in school years. Also we have gear restrictions to ensure all riders have a level playing field and can't use too hard a gear that could damage their legs as they grow.Advice on how to restrict gears is available on the internet.
British Cycling does the same but their age categories are different.

BSCA National Grass Track Results

BSCA National and Yorkshire regional Grass track Competition
Last few days to enter this competition to be held on the 28th June 2014 in Leeds.
The West Riding track league is again hosting the British Schools Cycling Association National Grass Track Competition for school children with separate events for Under 7,8,11,13,15 and over 15 age, boys and girls. It is a great event to be held on Saturday 28th June 2014 here at Roundhay Park, the week before Le Tour De France. There are medals for the top three girls and top three boys in each age category with national titles to the winners.
It is in the form of an omnium competition with three scoring events to decide the winner.
Kids born on or before the 31st August 2000 are on fixed wheel bikes, born on the 1st Spetember 2000 and later, are on freewheel bikes so slightly different from track league.
The event is pre-entry only and you will need to fill in the entry form and return it to Mandy or at signing on by the closing date or bring it to track league on Monday 16th June. Ring me if you have any problems. The number is on the form or e-mail me to : mandyparker2@ntlworld.com

Update form for Grass Track included below:
The Yorkshire Regional MTB is on the 25th May at Penistone Hill, Howarth. Drop handlebar bikes are not permitted as this is a MTB race.
